We, my wife and I are fulltime in the motorhome a '96 Bounder
by Fleetwood,
about six months a year. The other six months we are at home, getting ready to go somewhere else. We are fulltime Indian artists (Cherokee
if your wondering) and sell our art at powwows, art shows and galleries
across the United States. Annually we travel between 20 and 25,000 miles,
camping in Wal-Mart and Flying
J's, boondocking at powwows and staying at
Coast to Coast,
RPI's or
Passport
America Campgrounds.
We have our life neatly wrapped around our business, weekends you can find
us camped behind or near our art booth but the week days belong to us. We
book between three and eight shows back to back and stay out until we are
sold out or done. During our show schedule we normally tow a ten foot steel
cargo trailer. Returning home means mow the grass, straighten out the mail,
do the laundry and get more art ready to go again.
We try to do some wholesale in the spring and fall. When wholesaling we tow
a '03 Jeep Grand Cherokee, using a Falcon Towbar. Calling ahead to make
appointments we schedule a two to three week trip. These trips are just the
opposite of show trips - working during the week and the weekends are ours
The photo here with
our grandson. It was taken at the Grand Teton Indian Art festival
in Teton Village, Jackson Hole Wyoming in the summer of '04. No we don't
own or camp in the teepee, it belongs to the promoter a Lakota guy from
Landers Wyoming. Teepee can be purchased though and range in price from
$800 to $2500.
We have done the art festivals at Teton Village in Jackson Hole several
times and always enjoy our visit there. If your at Teton Village be sure to
check out The Mangy Moose.
